Dementor - 8x8in Shadow Box Geode Art
8x8in golden shadow box with a silky black cloth bursting outward, cascading down along with a black acrylic chain. Twinkle lights tucked away behind the cloth. Glass front of box is done in a geode style with grey stones, white lines and golden metallic details. This art piece is an experience, and is meant to evoke the dark, whimsical side of life and showcase its beauty, even if not always bright and sunny. This is a very interpretive piece. thinking outside of the box- literally. I named this “Dementor” because it reminds me of the blind fierceness of the creatures, not necessarily being evil but being direct and assertive in their acts, unable to determine who is good or bad — just that you’re in the way. This feels a lot like BPD, the personality disorder I struggle with. Dementors guard, and they seek. They hurt but they do it in order to save, in other senses. To abide to their natural order. They aren’t phased by people not understanding them. They just continue to be, and know their place. I find that very powerful and worth pondering.
Everything is attached and is actually NOT complicated to hang. It simply hangs as one single piece on a nail, where I’ve placed the attachment on the back. The light pad switch hangs comfortably behind and tucks into the cloth. Incredibly easy and stunning to see.
